The World’s First Beautiful Network for Broadwing
-
The highly confusing (early) landgrab of internet networking and hosting technologies
-
Delivering clarity and beauty to B2B technology services
-
Channeling the generational voice of screen legend Dennis Hopper and treating technology more like art

Broadwing Communications was a telecommunications company started in 2002, but was later acquired by Level 3 Communications. They offered telephone, voice, and data communications services at a time when optical networks were new and the rush to establish a stake in the growing internet economy was messy.
Broadwing came to Hill Holliday, Boston to set itself apart. The genius of my partner Geoff Mullett was that he fought to bring art and human emotion to what was then a tech-buzzword-laden minefield of complexity. He wanted to create a spokesperson role for Dennis Hopper that would be distinctive in the category and get the attention of Chief Information Officers around the country. He channeledd his voice form the first internal meeting and Mr. Hopper had very few script changes along the vetting and production process.Director Mehdi Norowzian and production company Chelsea Pictures did an incredible job bringing the scripts to screen. Editor Kirk Baxter of Final Cut (yes, The Kirk Baxter that later would win two Academy Awards for his editing work in feature films like The Social Network and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) masterfully put our vision together in these edits.
