Shin-Hanga Surf

I wanted to see how AI could handle turning traditional Japanese woodblock prints into action sports imagery, so I continued my experiments with surfing. Given my admiration for the prolific work of print maker Kawase Hasui who helped usher in The Shin-Hanga (“New Prints”) Movement in the early to mid 20th century, I prompted Midjourney to be inspired by his palettes and composition. I like the effect it created to capture the beauty of the sport and the ocean with distinctly Japanese flair.
