Back in January 2023 I was helping my kid’s band at the time, Audiomatic, with some content design for their socials and event flyers. The band had a show at Iron Smoke Distillery and I wanted to create a scratchboard-style illustration of a whiskey bottle label with the band names that would be playing the show. Instead of spending hours drawing it, I got a Midjourney trial and cranked this out. Was it perfect? No. There are artififacts in the line work, but the sheer speed was a gamechanger and the art was solid enough for a teenage band gig, so I added the bands names using Photoshop. This was the first AI-derived art I used in a real-world application, so I thought I’d at least document it here.
